Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about ordering home-cooked food, subscriptions, and cooking on Simmr.

For eaters

What is Simmr?+

Simmr is a UK marketplace for home-cooked food. Local home cooks and tiffin providers run their own storefront with daily menus, and you can order real home-cooked meals one-off or by weekly subscription.

How is this different from a takeaway or restaurant?+

Every dish is cooked at home by a real local cook, often regional or family recipes you won't find in restaurants. You order directly from the cook, frequently for next-day collection or delivery.

Can I get a daily tiffin subscription?+

Yes. Many kitchens offer recurring tiffin plans — pick the days you want and an order is created automatically each morning. You can pause, skip or cancel anytime from your account.

Is the food safe and are allergens listed?+

Kitchens display their official UK Food Hygiene Rating (FHRS) where available, and every dish lists its allergens in line with UK food law. Always check allergen information before ordering if you have allergies.

How do I pay?+

You can pay by card at checkout, or choose cash on collection/delivery where the cook offers it. Simmr never takes a cut of your order.

Do I need an account to order?+

Yes — a free account lets you check out, track orders, save addresses and manage any subscriptions. You can sign up with email or Google.

Can I cancel or change a subscription?+

Yes. From your account you can pause, skip individual days, or cancel a tiffin subscription at any time before the daily cutoff.

When is the order cutoff?+

Each kitchen sets its own daily cutoff time for next-service orders. You'll see the cutoff on the kitchen's page and at checkout.

How does delivery work?+

Delivery is offered by individual kitchens within a set radius, alongside collection. Enter your postcode on the kitchens page to see who delivers to you and any delivery fee.

What if something is wrong with my order?+

Contact the kitchen first via the details on your order, or email our support team and we'll help put it right.

For cooks

How much does it cost to sell on Simmr?+

Simmr charges a flat monthly subscription — there is no per-order commission. If you accept card payments, only the standard card processing fee applies, deducted from your payout.

Do I need to be a registered business?+

You should be registered as a food business with your local council (it's free) and follow food hygiene rules. You can add your company details and Food Hygiene Rating to build trust with customers.

Can I offer tiffin subscriptions and one-off orders?+

Yes. You can publish daily menus for one-off orders and offer recurring tiffin plans. Subscriptions generate orders automatically each day so you always know how much to cook.

How do I get paid?+

Card payments are paid out to you via the connected payment provider. Cash orders are settled directly with the customer and you mark them paid on your order board.
